Reflections on Perth from afar - what can we learn?

You are invited to join us for a luncheon where Committee for Perth CEO Marion Fulker will present the findings of her recent study tour that took her to nine cities across the US, Canada and the UK in a bid to seek inspiration for Perth from beyond our borders.

The tour examined how other cities were addressing a number of urban issues including development around transport infrastructure and the important issue of affordable housing. Each city was also assessed in terms of cultural offerings.

Marion met with civic and corporate leaders, planners and academics in LA, San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, New York and London to get ‘on the ground’ experience of each city and its responses to population growth.

She has returned with many lessons that she believes are important for Perth to learn as we plan for the future and looks forward to sharing them with you in this engaging and interactive format.

Special guest speaker: The Rt. Hon. Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi

Marion will be joined by the Lord Mayor who will present on the important role that public art plays in creating vibrant cities.

Lisa will share her knowledge of public art that she has gathered during her extensive international travel. She believes that public art that captures peoples attention and imagination is essential to activating our city and is what transforms ordinary places into memorable landmarks.
