The Chair’s 20 with the Hon. John Carey MLA

Western Australia’s planning, housing and health infrastructure portfolios are central to how Perth grows, lives and invests for the future.

We are delighted to host the Hon. John Carey MLA, Minister for Planning and Lands; Housing and Works; and Health Infrastructure, at our Chair’s 20 event on Thursday, 4 June 2026.

From grassroots urban renewal to leading the State’s most critical planning and housing portfolios, Minister Carey has built a career at the intersection of community, policy and city-shaping reform.

The Chair’s 20 is your opportunity to hear the Minister share an update on the priorities across his portfolios, including planning reform, housing delivery and the role of infrastructure in supporting a growing Greater Perth region.

The conversation will explore how Perth can accommodate a population of 3.5 million by 2050, or even earlier, balancing density with liveability and delivering more diverse, connected housing options.

These challenges sit at the heart of Committee for Perth’s advocacy: shaping a more connected, liveable and resilient region through long-term, coordinated planning.

Held in the exquisite dining hall at heritage-listed Lamont’s Bishops House, this intimate forum offers a rare opportunity for 20 leaders from Committee for Perth Gold and Silver member organisations to hear directly from the Minister and engage in a candid discussion on the decisions that shape Perth’s future.
